: WHO IS GOD TO YOU?

TEXT: JEREMIAH 11:9-10

“Will ye steal, murder, and commit adultery, and swear falsely, and burn incense unto Baal, and walk after other gods whom ye know not; And come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, We are delivered to do all these abominations?”

How do you see GOD? Do you see HIM as the sovereign KING that HE is? Or as someone just there for you to contact whenever you think you need HIM.  GOD is more than just someone you beckon each time you think that you need an assistance. We know that HE does not want us to steal, lie, or do anything that is sinful, but often times we just choose to ignore HIM and do whatever we want, and then when people get into trouble, you remember there is one GOD somewhere that can save people from trouble, and you call on HIM. The relationship GOD wants you to have with HIM is beyond that, HE wants you to love HIM, because HE loves you, HE does not need your religious activities only, because if you love HIM, obeying HIS commandments will be what you love to do, because you love HIM. You will be happy each time you know that you are doing what is right in the sight of GOD, and you will be sure of HIS presence. GOD created human for HIS pleasure, the book of Revelations 4:11 says “ Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.:” For the love that GOD has for us, HE wants us to love HIM back. The Bible says in Hosea 6:6 that “For I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings.” HE is more interested in your deep knowledge of HIM than whatever it is you have to offer.  How can you have a deep knowledge of who you do not love? The type of closeness that brings about such kind of knowledge about someone is only achievable by love, you cannot know so much about someone you do not love.

                Perhaps you are a person that does not know about GOD at all, or you know GOD but you do not really love HIM, just say this short prayer: LORD I am sorry for not reciprocating the love that you have shown to me by giving your only SON Jesus Christ as propitiation for my sins. I believe that HE died for my sins, and I accept HIM as the savior of my life. LORD please help me to love you as you love me, and to please you every day of my life.

FRUITS OF YOUR DOINGS.

TEXT: JEREMIAH 17:9-10

“The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings. “

            The fruits of your heart are the things that you think of and act; the fruits of your doings are the outcomes of your actions. Actually there is barely anything you do that you have actually not thought of. The thought might be so short that you may not even realize you thought of it. GOD is interested in everything about us, even what we think, HE knows them all. Our text makes us to know that HE searches our hearts. In fact GOD is more interested in our motives of doing things than our actual actions; that is why HE wants to know what is in our hearts. HE does not want us to feign righteousness; HE wants us to be righteous, from inside our hearts, through our thoughts to our actions. As human I could be congratulating you for a success physically, but in my heart wishing you never achieved that success, but you will be happy with me because you think I have good thoughts toward you. GOD sees my heart, HE will not see me as if I love you, HE will see me the way I am “an hater of you” most times we act like we are trying to deceive GOD, but GOD cannot be deceived.

    How do we respond or react to the commandments of GOD in our hearts? Do we see HIS commandments as burdens, or we see them as guidelines to live a holy life without which no one shall see GOD? Are you trying to please GOD so that you will not go to hell after death or you are doing HIS will because you love HIM and you do not want to hurt HIM? There is no how anyone will love GOD and will not long to see HIM. From today let your longing be to live a holy life because it makes GOD happy. This is what HE wants from us, HE looks at our hearts too, not just our actions. HE wants us to love HIM with all our hearts and strength.

SINNERS’ LOT

TEXT: ISAIAH 1:38

“And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.”

From our text; it is obvious that GOD does not condone sin at all, although a lot of people know this fact, they have refuse to accept it as it is, still preferring to live a kind of life that is displeasing to GOD. The Bible makes us know that GOD is looking for people that will worship HIM in spirit and in truth, John 4:23 says “But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.” As GOD loves praise and worship, HE still demands it is offered in spirit and in truth, because HE does not want us to just do things because we want to force ourselves to obey HIM, but HE wants our obedience to HIM to be as a result of the love that we have for HIM. If you love GOD; you will do all HE demands of you, not just so that you would avoid disobeying HIM, but because you always want to please HIM. When JESUS CHRIST summarized the ten commandments, the first makes us to know that we should love GOD with everything in us, and the second reveals to us that we should love every other person as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:37-39 “Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.”) HE chose to summarize the commandments because HE wants us to get the essence of the commandments, HE does not want us to struggle to live a holy life, HE wants us to live a holy lifestyle right from inside our heart. From today, pray that GOD will plant HIS love in your heart so that pleasing HIM will not be a burden to you.

                To live a life that is pleasing to GOD is the best thing anyone can do on earth, because it guarantees you eternal life in the presence of GOD. The first step to living such kind of life is to accept JESUS CHRIST as your LORD, tell HIM to come into your life, decide to let go of all your sins, and tell HIM to forgive you, also tell HIM to give you the grace to live a life that pleases HIM always. HE is everywhere, just close your eyes where you are and as you are and say the prayer.

TAKE IT TO THE LORD IN PRAYER

TEXT: Philippians 4:6

        “Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. “

So often we tend to forget the magnificence of GOD, and the efficacy of HIS words that we just neglect HIM and sorrow through our cares. The LORD JESUS CHRIST already told us in HIS words that; we should not take thought for tomorrow concerning our welfare, HE takes care of all the birds, weeds, wild animals and so on. Imagine the forests, no one seems to be keeping them, what people rather do is to deplete them (deforestation), but it is GOD that actually takes care of the forests, HE keeps the trees growing and later people fell those trees for human uses. Some people don’t even think of how long it takes for those trees to develop to what they were before cutting them down, and they are always sure that whenever they got to a forest, there is a tree at least waiting to be cut down. This is the magnificent work of GOD. Some trees take numerous decades to develop, and they keep cutting such trees down everyday, yet we still have forests on planet earth. Only GOD actually keeps these forests, in the same way, GOD provides for wild animals too.

If GOD cares so much about other things like plants and animals, how much more we humans that HE has redeemed with the blood of HIS only begotten SON, JESUS CHRIST? The LORD told us that we need not to worry about our welfare in Matthew 6:25-26 “Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? “

If you have things that bother you, all you need to do is to take it to GOD in prayer, JESUS CHRIST told us that we should ask and it shall be given unto us in Matthew7:7 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:” since HE has said it, then HE will do it. You just believe when you have asked and you shall receive it, Mark 11:24 says “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. “

If you do not believe in GOD, you cannot receive anything from HIM, so all your cares and burdens remains yours to carry, HE will only HELP those that have come unto HIM Matthew 11:28 says “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” So it is only those that have come to GOD that will receive HIS rest .If you have not given your life to CHRIST, you need to do so now so that HE will take care of all your needs. To allow JESUS CHRIST to bare your burdens for you; just say this short prayer:

 LORD JESUS I accept you as the savior of my life, I confess that you are the only SON of GOD, I believe that you came into this world to die for my sins, now I repent from all I have done that is sinful. Please come into my life and help me to live a life that pleases you from now on. Amen

WONDERFUL LOVE

TEXT: JOHN 15:13

“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. “

       

                GOD is love according to 1John 4:8. If GOD is love, then how can you measure how much HE loves us? You cannot measure the love that GOD has for human being; HE loves us so much that HE sent HIS only begotten SON to die for our own sins. HIS son had to die for our sins because only blood can cleanse us from sin; that is why during the Old Testament. HE made provisions for HIS people to offer animals as sacrifices to remit their sins, but this will only make people to have self-righteousness believing in their wealth whenever they have sinned because they could easily afford to provide animals for sacrifices for their sins, this certainly could not bring man to the purpose that GOD has for man (which is to fellowship with HIM) so GOD made a better provision by sending HIS only begotten SON JESUS CHRIST, to be the final sacrifice for our sins, even for generations to come (if JESUS tarries) HE came to die for you and me, so that we may have eternal life with HIM in heaven. HE said HE has gone to prepare a place for us so that where HE is we may be also in John 14:3. It is necessary for us to be cleansed from our sins because GOD wants to always have fellowship with us, but sinful people cannot go into HIS presence, Psalm 24:3-4 says “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that hath clean hands, and a pure heart; who hath not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. “So only those that have clean hands and pure hearts can have true fellowship with GOD.

                We need to have fellowship with GOD always because the Bible said in Psalm16:11 that “ Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” There is joy and pleasure in the presence of GOD. To stay in the presence of GOD just stay away from things that will make you to be sinful, stay away from all sins and GOD will stay with you.
